Every Sunday is a wonderful day of worship and thanksgiving here at Hoover. God is the focus of all that is said and done. We are all blessed to be a part of such a warm and friendly fellowship. God's grace allows us to be members of His church. For that we are both happy and grateful to attend every service of this congregation and participate and support its works.
Opportunities at Hoover
This congregation has many opportunities available to members and others interested in being a part of the congregation:
Worship. We assemble together for worship twice on the first day of each week (first at 10:00 am and then again at 5:00 pm) [What Can I Expect?]
Sunday Morning Bible Study. Our elders have decided that on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am we should gather for a period of Bible study. [What Can I Expect?]
Wednesday Night Bible Study. The elders also decided that we would assemble together on Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm for Bible study and a mid-week devotional. [What Can I Expect?]
Ladies Bible Study. Another opportunity for Bible study is the Ladies Bible study on Tuesday mornings at 10:00.
Men's Breakfasts. Check with the office for the next breakfast.
Youth. Our youth group regularly enjoy devotionals, service to others, fellowship activities, and other times to get together--opportunities abound for youth and those interested in working with them!
Women. The ladies share many fellowship opportunities including retreats, a Secret Sister program, Ladies' Night Out, and other special times.
Men. The men of the congregation also have opportunities to get together including retreats, the Men's Breakfasts, playing sports (i.e. softball), and other activities.
Brother's Keepers Groups. We all participate in a very special small group fellowship called Brother's Keepers. Every member has been randomly assigned to a group that meets on the first Sunday evening of the month after evening services. In these small group settings we enjoy a meal and get to know one another on a more personal basis. This also helps us to be aware of the needs of those within our groups.
Evangelism. There is a continual interest in teaching others about Jesus and His church. Members are provided with Bible study videos, correspondence courses, evangelistic tracts, and other Christian publications to help them in sharing the gospel with others.
Mission Work. We support the teaching and preaching of the gospel at several mission points both here in the United States and in foreign countries. There have even been campaigns led by members of Hoover to Guyana, South America in the past years.
Benevolence. We believe that Christians should do what we can to help others--especially our Christian family We are involved in many benevolent works both locally and in other states. Members give monthly to care for children at Childhaven (Cullman, AL), Children's Home in Mt. Dora, Florida, Pinevale Children's Home (Corinth, MS), and Agape (Montgomery, AL). Many of our members also provide food items for local benevolent needs and to help supply our food pantry.
Informing Members. The church office provides a weekly bulletin, announcement sheet, and a special CareLines sheet to every member of this congregation to inform them of all the latest concerns, needs and activities. During office hours the most current updates and information can be given over the phone.
